Yes, you're finally being allowed to see the list of companies I've "hired" and "fired"! Why? Well, hopefully other people will come on board and visit the companies I like, and quit doing business with the ones I don't like... Power to the people!!! Vote with your wallets.
Alamo Rent-A-Car
Status: FIRED!
Reason: See NWA WorldVacations. These guys need to inform customers up front about any fees that haven't been paid, instead of waiting till you turn the car in, when you have no other choice but to pay them.
AMC Theaters
Status: FIRED!
Reason: Prices have risen too much in the past few years... We'll stick to DVD and the Farmington Civic... All you actors reading this, you don't need to be making multiple millions of dollars for all your films! We're not paying for you!
Blockbuster Video
Status: FIRED!
Reason: Prices are getting out of hand here... Lower your prices, and we'll consider an application for re-hiring
Bright House (Cable and Internet Service Proveder)
Status: HIRED! (One Write-Up)
Reason: Reliable service, and fast support calls when things do go wrong... I suppose thats what I should expect when i'm paying almost $150 for cable and internet though.
Write-Up: "All Digital" lineup is encrypted, so you can only get the basic channels in digital with a Cablecard or a Box. Come on guys, get with the program here, channels that have free analog versions dont need to be encrypted for digital! Also, the number fo HD channels is quite low compared to the competition right now.
Comcast (Cable and Internet Service Provider)
Status: FIRED! (Under Review)
Reason: Terrible service, HTTP Proxy, Price increases, Home Networking package (Multiple IPs) not always working. Also, cut out the "Ditch the Dish" promos, the Dish is far superior to your crappy picture, even if it does require a receiver for each TV. Don't bother to try to get re-hired, it's just not going to happen.
Review: They now have more HD channels than Wide Open West, and don't encrypt the digital versions of the basic channels, so tv's with a QAM256 tuner can get the channels without a converter box.
Earthlink (DSL Internet Service Provider)
Status: FIRED! (Since 1999)
Reason: Static IP not always Static, long tech support hold times, no Multiple IPs anymore.
Family Video
Status: HIRED!
Reason: Very reasonable pricing (pay attention Blockbuster!), and friendly employees. Only complaint is that they must call your house when you open an account, even if it's midnight, and people at home are sleeping.
Friday's Restaurants
Status: FIRED!
Reason: The new menu is much pricier than the old, and the items just aren't as good. What exactly did you do to your Fettuccini Alfredo? It's awful now! Cheaper prices would also be appreciated. We're accepting an application to be re-hired if you make the requested changes.
NWA WorldVacations
Status: FIRED!
Reason: Buying a vacation package (Flght, Hotel, Car) should include ALL fees. Returning the rental car (from Alamo) and then finding out there's $125 in fees that weren't part of the package is TERRIBLE. All other fees were included in the vacation package (flight taxes and surcharges, hotel taxes, etc...), so why not the rental car? If you book a car throuhg these guys, be prepared to pay a huge fee when you turn the car in.
SMC (Network Hardware Maker)
Status: FIRED!
Reason: Apparently nobody at this company knows how to write stable firmware that won't lock up. Firmware that locks up a router/wireless AP is useless!
Wide Open West (Cable and Internet Service Provider)
Status: HIRED!
Reason: Good price/service ratio... Internet isn't always reliable, but Static and Multiple IPs work!
